JOB SCOPE:
- Responsible for the solicitation, maintenance and general production of corporate business travel transient clientele as directed by the Director of Corporate Sales or Director of Sales.
- Emphasis on solicitation, development, and maintenance of business travel transient accounts in Law, Tech, Publishing, Advertising and Pharmaceutical markets.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Selling Tasks (50%)
- Responsible for acquisition of new accounts through targeted solicitation including identifying top accounts of our comp set properties.
- Solicits our existing top producing accounts.
- Maintains and ensures all accounts are contacted 12, 6 and 3 times per year, based on account production.
- Makes frequent outside sales calls.
- Handles telephone inquiries courteously and in a timely fashion.
- Qualifies inquiries for volume corporate rate program.
- Follows proper procedures and systems for volume corporate rate program.
- Responsible for achieving monthly action steps as outlined by Director of Corporate Sales or Director of Sales.
- Travels as required.
- Attends appropriate trade shows and administers follow up as required.
- Responsible for sales coverage as outlined on schedule.
- Adheres to Delphi procedures.
- Coordinates, executes, and hosts client receptions and FAM trips as outlined by Director of Corporate Sales or Director of Sales to increase awareness and future business.
- Performs all other related duties as directed by Director of Corporate Sales or Director of Sales.
Team Supervision and Communication (20%)
- Works closely with Director of Corporate Sales or Director of Sales to uncover new accounts and maintain assigned corporate volume accounts.
- Acts as liaison between accounts and Hotel with regard to ensuring proper service, i.e. Reservations/Front Office/ Accounting/Credit.
- Works closely and communicates with RSVP Reservations Coordinator and Corporate Sales Coordinator.
- Works closely and communicates with Regional Sales Offices to ensure maximum benefit from their sales people and proper maintenance of shared accounts.
- Adheres to Departmental and Hotel policies and standards.
- Performs all other related duties as directed by Director of Corporate Sales or Director of Sales.
Meetings (20%)
- Gives site inspections/entertains existing and potential clients.
- Participates in weekly Sales meeting.
- Participates in weekly meeting with Director of Corporate Sales or Director of Sales.
Reporting of Information (10%)
- Submits annual and monthly action steps for approval and executes accordingly.
- Completes and submits monthly sales report.
- Submits sales trip reports.
- Ensures all activities are recorded in Delphi.
- Aids Director of Corporate Sales or Director of Sales in creating and suggesting special promotions and projects for the corporate local market
NEEDED
QUALIFICATIONS: ESSENTIAL:
- College graduate; hotel school a plus
- Minimum two years experience in a selling position
DESIRABLE:
- Hotel operational background helpful.
- NYC clientele experience
- Courses in Professional Selling Skills an asset.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: ESSENTIAL:
- Strong selling skills.
- Ability to evaluate and negotiate complex agreements.
- Should possess excellent communication, organizational and writing skills.
- Ability to travel 15% of the year
DESIRABLE: Problem Solving
- Must be able to absorb, coordinate, and communicate information.
Self-Efficacy
- Must be self-motivated, cooperative, and require limited supervision.
- Strong solicitation skills.
Service Orientation
- Thorough knowledge of hotel facilities, layout, rate structure, room types, credit procedures, VIP and Reservation procedures.
Computer Skills
- Knowledge of Word, Excel, Hotelligence, DELPHI and Opera software helpful.
