JOB SCOPE:

  • Implements sales plan for local corporate accounts, wholesale and retail travel group and transient agencies, and consortium accounts in order to develop and achieve the overall hotel sales revenue goals for assigned sales territory. Emphasis on securing new local corporate and wholesale accounts, retail travel group and transient agencies and development of existing C&D accounts in assigned territory.

JOB FUNCTIONS:   Sales Actions (65%)

  • Manage the local, corporate, major wholesale, retail travel group, transient agencies and consortium accounts based in assigned territory to maximize actual sleeping room consumption and other revenue producing opportunities; assist in the servicing of individual clients to ensure customer satisfaction and a successful experience; entertain clients to build rapport and to secure future business.
  • Aggressively acquire new local corporate, wholesale retail travel group and transient agencies, and consortium accounts by following up on leads (by phone or in person), making local and out-of-town sales calls and cold calls, creating new accounts and achieving room night and revenue production goals to contribute to the hotel’s long-term success.
  • Maintains and ensures all accounts are contacted 12, 6 and 3 times per year, based on account production.
  • Handles telephone inquiries courteously and in a timely fashion.
  • Responsible for Saturday and sales coverage as outlined on schedule.
  • Adheres to Marketing Division Standards and Delphi procedures.
  • Coordinates, executes, and hosts client receptions and FAM trips as outlined by Director of Sales to increase awareness and future business.
  • Performs all other related duties as directed by Director of Sales.
  • Maintain high ethical and professional conduct and adhere to the hotel’s standards of conduct.
  • Give site inspections and entertain potential clients.

Team Communication (20%)

  • Works closely with Director of Sales to uncover new accounts and maintain assigned accounts.
  • Acts as liaison between accounts and Hotel with regard to ensuring proper service, i.e. Reservations/Front Office/Accounting/Credit.
  • Works closely and communicates with Reservations and Revenue teams and Sales team members on issues as they relate to assigned territory.
  • Works closely and communicates with Global Sales Offices to ensure maximum benefit from their sales people and proper maintenance of shared accounts.
  • Adheres to Departmental and Hotel policies and standards.
  • Performs all other related duties as directed by Director of Sales.

Meetings (5%)

  • Participates in weekly Sales meeting.
  • Participates in weekly meeting with Director of Sales.

Reporting of Information (10%)

  • Submits annual and monthly action steps for approval and executes accordingly.
  • Completes and submits monthly sales report.
  • Submits sales trip reports.
  • Ensures all activities are recorded in Delphi.
  • Aids Director of Sales in creating and suggesting special promotions and projects for assigned markets.

NEEDED

QUALIFICATIONS:
ESSENTIAL:

  • Excellent oral and written abilities in both Mandarin and English languages.
  • Working knowledge of Chinese culture and market.
  • College degree.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and writing skills.

DESIRABLE:

  • Minimum 1 year hotel selling experience, public contract experience desirable.
  • Hotel operational background helpful.
  • High degree of flexibility.
  • Delphi and Opera software experience a plus.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
ESSENTIAL:

  • Strong selling skills.
  • Ability to evaluate and negotiate complex agreements.
  • Written and oral Chinese language skills

DESIRABLE:
Problem Solving

  • Must be able to absorb, coordinate, and communicate information.

Self-Efficacy

  • Must be self-motivated, cooperative, and require limited supervision.
  • Strong solicitation skills.

Service Orientation

  • Thorough knowledge of hotel facilities, layout, rate structure, room types, credit procedures, VIP and Reservation procedures.

Computer Skills

  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, DELPHI and Opera software helpful.
